Leena - Summer Time - 3rd week at Barnardos

Hey there,

Many of my friends are working full time, others have gone travelling and some are spending the summer relaxing but I decided to do a internship at Barnardos. The internship programme here provides so much support to all the interns and the friendly atmosphere here helps all of us who were nervous fit in. The department I am in, the volunteer development department, is great! As a volunteer development intern I have the opportunity to talk to other volunteer development managers and I have many meetings lined up.

I finished my final year at Queen Mary University and graduated with a BA degree in History!! Having done a range of voluntary work, this internship gives me the opportunity to help increase the number of volunteers in the departments needed. I love working with children and the projects here help me enable that the children services provided by Barnardos have enough volunteers.

3 weeks into the internship, there is still loads of work left but the atmosphere here is not like other office enivronments- its fab!! For all of us who believe in children and want to help spread the word this internship brings us all together. I'm not too sure what I will do once this internship is over but I know that I while I am here I will enjoy the many weeks yet to come at Barnardos!!!
